Roast Beef & Havarti Sandwich with Basil Horseradish Mayo

Roast Beef & Havarti Sandwich with Basil Horseradish Mayo

I am about to rock your freaking world with this sandwich. It definitely ranks in my top 3 sandwiches I’ve ever had. And like Joey from Friends, I’ve eaten A LOT of sammies.

These are my holy grail tips for making a great sandwich:

Tip #1. Use good bread. When I say good bread, I mean baked fresh in a local bakery that specializes in bread. The bread pictured here is a multigrain loaf from an adorable bakery in Raleigh I LOVE – Yellow Dog Bread Company.

Tip #2: Season your sandwich. A light sprinkle of salt and pepper before you seal the deal really brings out the flavor of your entire sandwich.

Tip #3:: Use Duke’s Mayo or a sauce made of such. There really is no substitution worthy. It is the king of mayo. I will fight you on this.

This particular sauce is made of Duke’s, horseradish spread, and fresh basil. Don’t shortcut with dried basil, that would be gross in this recipe.

I used Boar’s Head brand roast beef and I also used their jalapeno cream havarti cheese. Oh my goodness… that stuff is amazing. My favorite part of going to the grocery store is checking out what new kinds of meat and cheese Boar’s Head has dreamed up. I have yet to try something of theirs I didn’t like.

The combination of fresh basil + tangy mayo + the bite from the horseradish knocks this sandwich out of the park. It pairs perfectly with the delicious roast beef and creamy havarti. Go make this sandwich already!!
