This is probably one of my favorite pizzas I’ve ever tasted, and definitely the best one I’ve made at home. It’s a perfect combination of flavors with the salty prosciutto, creamy goat cheese and ricotta base, with fresh arugula on top and a balsamic glaze that gives it a hint of sweetness.
First things first, I recommend buying fresh pre-made dough. I don’t know about you, but I simply don’t have time to bother making pizza dough from scratch on a weeknight. If you want to make it, please go for it! The rest of the recipe steps will still work. I get my dough in the grocery store deli section and it’s only good for a few days. You can freeze it though and it’s inexpensive. Be gentle with the dough as you’re stretching it, you don’t want it to tear.
At the base of this pizza is a layer of olive oil, fresh minced garlic, and seasonings. Then topped with a cheese mixture. You bake it for 8-10 minutes before adding the prosciutto. If you have cheese pizza fans at home, you could honestly just stop there and enjoy a really good cheese pizza. But if you love prosciutto as much as I do, keep going!
Oh man, my mouth is watering just looking at these pics. Go make this pizza already!
Prosciutto, Goat Cheese, & Arugula Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 ball pre-made refrigerated pizza dough
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup ricotta cheese
- 3 oz. goat cheese
- 3 oz. Proscuitto thinly sliced
- 3 cups baby arugula
Balsamic Glaze:
- ½ cup balsamic vinegar
- 1 tbsp. brown sugar
Instructions
- Remove the dough from the fridge and let rest for at least 30 minutes. The dough will be easier to manipulate at room temperature. Put the balsamic glaze ingredients in a small sauce pan and bring to a boil on medium heat, then reduce to medium-low heat and let simmer for 10-12 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Once the dough is ready, sprinkle the dough with flour and use your hands or a floured rolling pin to shape into a pizza crust. Your crust should fit whatever pizza pan you will be baking on. In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, garlic, and seasonings then brush in a layer onto the crust. In another small bowl, mix together ricotta, mozzarella, and goat cheeses. Spread in an even layer over the olive oil base.
- Bake the pizza for 8-10 minutes until the crust is slightly browned. Remove pizza from oven and top with prosciutto slices. Bake for another 6 minutes until the crust is browned. Toss arugula in a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper. Remove pizza from oven, top with arugula, then drizzle balsamic glaze on top.
